AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIPS

MAKING A DIFFERENCE FOR WOMEN AWARDS. Honoring women and organizations that have worked to advance the status of women, including awards for: Woman of Distinction, Women Helping Women, and Making a Difference for Women.

SINYC EDUCATION AWARD. American and international Soroptimists, their sons and daughters, and their direct relatives (except SINYC members and their families), are invited to apply for an education award if they are accepted for a program of study at an accredited institution in the United States, or if they are enrolled in a program directly related to their business or professional career.Applicants are required to have a recommendation from their sponsoring Soroptimst Club and a recommendation or letter of acceptance from the school or college. For further information and to request an application, email contact@sinyc.org attention "SINYC Education Award Program". Selection of successful applicants will be made by the SINYC Awards Committee. (Deadline: May 30th. Note: SINYC members and their families are not eligible.)

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD. Soroptomists should contact the organizations they would like to nominate, and each organization is required to submit their most current development packet by June 30th, including their most recent Form 990, and a short statement of purpose on how they would use the award funds. The Committee will review the organizations' packets and determine which one should receive the award. The Committee will contact the organization and present the award in the Fall, during the September or October meeting.  All development packets should be submitted to: Andrea T. Mills, Fiscal Management Associates, LLC -- 70 W. 36th Street , 15th Floor, New York , NY 10018. (Deadline: June 30th)

WOMENS' OPPORTUNITY AWARD (WOA)
. Monetary grants to women and heads of households to attain higher education, additional skills, or training to enable them to improve their job status or re-enter the workforce. (Deadline: December 1st)

VIOLET RICHARDSON AWARD (VRA). Monetary grants to honor young women aged 14-17 for outstanding volunteer action in their respective communities. (Deadline: December 1st)
