LIVE YOUR DREAM AWARD
One Step at a Time
With this initiative, our goal is to empower women and girls through education and training awards for women. Each year, more than $1.7 million in education grants are disbursed through the Live Your Dream Awards program to more than 1,300 women, many of whom have overcome enormous obstacles including poverty, domestic violence, the death of a spouse, and/or substance abuse.
At SINYC we support the Live Your Dream Award for young girls who are trying to study, manage a family and create a career that will support them. Our club has been very supportive of this program.
In 2017 Sonchelove (center image) was a recipient of SINYC's Live Your Dream Award. She has gone onto to College. This year as part of her studies she participated in a study abroad program in Ghana. Sonchelove was able to visit areas of cultural, political, educational, social and of historical significance. This enabled her to mix with the local people and learn more about their lives. From this Sonchelove is enriching her own life to be able to be an aspiring social worker. We wish her well and she is truly living her dream.

EDUCATION AWARD
The Education award is given to applicants who demonstrate a financial need while earning their first degree. It is paid directly to the institution.

COMMUNITY SERVICE
Helping The Community
At Soroptimist International of New York City, we are dedicated to serving our community. Through cooperation and community empowerment we believe we can impact positively the lives of women and girls in vulnerable situations. We conduct an annual drive for winter hats, gloves, scarves and mittens for women in a shelter.
Our annual fundraiser goes towards supporting women who have been victims of domestic violence. Money also goes towards the Live Your Dream Award, supporting "Heads of Households", who are trying to advance their education goals.
