About Us

Who We Are?

Soroptimist International of New York City is a club-member from SI of the Americas Federation organization lead by women in business and various professions, working through service projects to build a better world for women and children.  Currently, Soroptimist International have 85,000 members in more than 3,000 clubs in  122 countries. Our New York Club, partners with a variety of community service organizations to aid women and families who are victims of physical and sexual abuse, to provide support for women in a homeless shelter, provide educational scholarships and grants to women pursuing a post high school education program in college, university and/or technical schools.  Our club also supports federation and international projects worldwide with donations.

Club members work in a variety of ways to raise funds to support  these endeavors, such as working at flea markets, fundraising events, clothes drivers, and co-sponsoring receptions with Soroptimists of other countries.  We also partner with country  missions of the United Nations for special events, seeking donations from business and corporate entities to Soroptimists' projects in other countries.   All donations  raised by the members of the club are tax deductible for the donor under our not-for-profit status as a 501 (c) (3) organization.

Currently SI New York City provides scholarships and grants to 3 – 4 women each year and provides a grant to a community service agency. To learn more about our projects at SI of New York City click here.
